Vacheron Constantin's new Overseas duo is smarter than all of us (and better dressed)
Vacheron Constantin's new Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin tracks leap years, moonphases – and might be their smartest watch yet

THERE’S A CERTAIN KIND OF PERSON who gets excited by a moonphase dial. Someone who appreciates a 4mm-thick movement not just for what it does, but for how impossibly elegant it is. If you know, you know — and if you don’t, the new Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin from Vacheron Constantin is a good place to start.
Two new references have just landed in the Overseas family: one in pink gold with a golden-toned dial, the other in white gold with a burgundy lacquer dial – each with three interchangeable straps (metal, rubber, and a second rubber tone) to suit whatever mood you’re in.
Despite the impressive list of complications – including a perpetual calendar and moonphase – the case stays impossibly slender at just 8.1mm. Inside ticks the in-house calibre 1120 QP/1, a self-winding, ultra-thin movement that won’t need a date adjustment until the year 2100. (After that, it’s on you.)

Both models are 41.5mm in diameter and powered by a 22-carat gold oscillating weight engraved with a compass rose – a nod to the Overseas collection’s travel DNA. It’s the kind of detail that would feel showy if it weren’t executed with such restraint. There’s no flash here. Just quiet mastery.
For those who like their watches to look as smart as they are mechanically, the pink gold version leans classic, with tone-on-tone refinement and a subtle navy minutes track to break up the warmth.
The white gold/burgundy version feels a little more confident – a rich, lacquered dial that changes with the light and adds depth against bright white indexes and hands.
Yes, these are perpetual calendars. Yes, they’re ultra-thin. But what really sells them is the fact that they don’t shout. They whisper. Loud enough for those who know.
