‘Peacemaker’ season 2, episode 2 recap: drunk texts and orgy clean ups
Chris and Task Force X are worse off than we thought

HOW DARE CHRIS host an orgy without Adrian?! His best friend is crestfallen as he rocks up to the suburban home with his cleaning supplies, finding dozens of naked, exhausted participants. But if we could reassure Adrian, a true mark of a best friend is being first on speed dial when you need someone to help dispose of a body. As Rick Flag Sr’s surveillance order on Peacemaker intensifies, and the 11th Street kids each deal with their crises of conscience, expect more of the same trauma-bonding dynamics ahead.
Below, we recap the happenings of the DC motley crew.

Revenge of the father

First of all, and a compliment to him, Frank Grillo does not look old enough to play father to Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flag Jr. Grillo continues his role here from Superman as Rick Flag Sr, who takes over Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller as A.R.G.U.S. director. Expect more federal trouble for Peacemaker as Flag vows revenge on the himbo hero for killing his son at the end of The Suicide Squad sequel. The file on Jr’s murder is pretty gruesome, too, though recounted in flowery detail how Peacemaker shoved a glass shard right into his heart.
Peacemaker and Adrian clean up

Who do you call to clean up after an orgy? Your best friend, naturally. Adrian arrives at Chris’ with his cleaning supplies, but unbeknownst to him, his best friend threw an orgy . . . without him. Momentarily crestfallen, the real reason Chris asked him here was to cut up his doppelganger’s corpse in the Unfolding Chamber. Leota tells Chris to be careful activating the pocket dimension with Flag and A.R.G.U.S. on his scent – rather, he should surrender it entirely. Either or, the intelligence agency is looking for anything to pin on Chris.
In comes Fleury

The wonderful Tim Meadows makes his debut this episode as Fleury, the A.R.G.U.S. agent with a knack for astute nicknames. Joining Economos on his Peacemaker surveillance watch, he calls Adrian a “nerd” and Economos “Ginger Cool”. He’s a delightful box of quirks; he can’t tell what kind of bird breed Eagley is because of his diagnosed “bird blindness”. Anyway, Fleury was sent on orders by Bordeaux to keep Economos in check, grilling him about having a “crisis of conscience”.
Fleury and the four new A.R.G.U.S. agents – or Mexicali, Ponyboy, Encino Man, and Titties (the only woman) as he calls them – break into Chris’ house later that night. Snooping around for the dimensional anomaly triggered when Chris and Adrian went into the pocket dimension, their mission’s cut short when Eagley attacked like a guard dog with wings.
The 11th Street kids reunion

The kids are back on the block. Hosted on Emilia’s apartment rooftop, Adrian brings and shatters a couple of Bud Lights upon entry. As Chris and Leota arrive soon after, Adrian’s smile is wiped off his face: Did my best friend come without me? Leota is being especially warm to Economos, who she hasn’t seen since he left Task Force X to go back to A.R.G.U.S. It hasn’t been the same without the chainsaw-wielding friendly giant, she says. He tells her he hates his new gig, not disclosing that it’s to surveil Chris. Drunkenly, she suggests that he should forge his own path like she has with her one-woman security agency and new calling cards. It seems Fleury’s psychoanalysis was correct, Economos is suffering from a crisis of conscience as he reveals to Leota he’s been dealing with anxiety since he was a kid.

On the other side of the rooftop, Chris and Emlia are reminiscing about how they first met. Something involving a fishing rod? He first approached her by following her into a bar, the same one Emilia had gone into looking for trouble. He gathers that’s how she got the bruises that she attempts to cover up with long sleeves and make-up. As much as he’s dealing with his unemployment status, he’s worried about Emilia being rejected from the kinds of jobs she was trained for.
Peacemaker drunk texts the other Emilia

Chris’ house is in disarray when he comes back from the party, and not a scratch on Eagley after the A.R.G.U.S. invasion. While he and Adrian were chopping and blending his doppelganger’s corpse, the other Chris’ phone slipped out. Would a phone in a parallel dimension still work? There’s obviously no cell service, so Chris heads back to the parallel universe, sending the other Emilia a drunk text.
“Hey.” he sends, all nonchalant.
“Hey.” she replies, followed by a broken heart emoji.
