THE NEW POSTER for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery has landed, and the internet immediately started sleuthing the timepiece on Daniel Craig’s arm.

Omega has told Esquire that Craig, returning as Southern gumshoe Benoit Blanc, is sporting the De Ville Trésor 40mm in stainless steel.

Think slim, dressy and forensic lab-clean: a curved midnight-blue dial, 18-carat white-gold hands with applied hour markers and a discreet date aperture at six.

Inside sits the hand-wound calibre 8910, a Master Chronometer that runs for roughly three days between winds and resists magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss – precision credentials that seem a nice fit for Blanc’s methodical mind.

In preceding film Glass Onion, Blanc wore the lovely Seamaster 1948, a limited revival launched in 2018 to mark 70 years of the original Seamaster.

That piece leaned into nostalgia: small-seconds at six, a domed silver dial, a 38mm case and an automatic movement – all whisker-soft and gentlemanly.

The Trésor keeps that old-school spirit but sharpens the silhouette.

At 40mm it reads leaner and more contemporary, its deep-blue dial cooler, its Metas-certified movement delivering modern-day accuracy with anti-magnetic muscle.

If the 1948 nodded to tradition, the Trésor hints at a slightly darker, more present-day Blanc.

Craig’s screen watches have long doubled as character notes. Away from the set, this publication has charted the actor’s impressive Omega stable – from Moonwatch classics to red-gold Speedmasters – so it tracks that Blanc’s latest clue is another from the same house.

Wake Up Dead Man debuts at the BFI London Film Festival this month, heads to cinemas in November, and streams on Netflix in December.

The ensemble is heavyweight – Glenn Close, Josh O’Connor, Kerry Washington, Josh Brolin and Mila Kunis among them – with filming split between Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden, and locations around the UK, with London as the primary backdrop.

One riddle you don’t need to crack? The watch on Blanc’s wrist.
