DURING THE NON-STOP press tour for Guillermo del Toro’s horror opus Frankenstein, we made a big call: didn’t matter how bad they make Jacob Elordi look in the film, he’d still probably be the best-looking man in the room.

In the subsequent weeks, including the much-anticipated reveal of what the monster would actually look like, our Sybilline claims proved correct. The red carpet appearances for the gothic horror adaptation, out tonight on Netflix, have become a masterclass in everything from contemporary menswear to classic tailoring and most recently, meta self-referentialism.

Elordi’s co-stars have equally been bringing the big guns out every time they step onto that red carpet. Co-star and actual Frankenstein, Oscar Isaac, has delivered truly entertaining takes on black-tie (that ERL number was a blast) dressing. He’s also shown how much fun it is when co-stars dress like they’re on the same team – shout out to Mia Goth here, too. Aesthetic harmony is so easy to achieve; we love to see more of it.

Taking this, here’s our ranking of the best looks from the Frankenstein press tour.

10. Oscar Isaac in custom ERL, Hollywood premiere

Yeah, it’s cool and we dig the exaggerated silhouette (great work, ERL) but in a press tour that was more tour de force, it comes in 10th only due to the fact that something had to come in at the end. Isaac’s flair for theatrics in his off-screen fashion remains one of the most delightful details of any movie that he’s promoting so, please, don’t stop.

9. Jacob Elordi in Christopher Kane 2013, BAFTA screening

Kind of a genius move to put the monster in a sweatshirt with an image of the OG monster on the front . . . Elordi wore the vintage Christopher Kane piece, along with some casual The Row black jeans and loafers, for the BAFTA screening before slipping away to do an interview with Jimmy Fallon. Complete with a Naarmcore mullet (represent, bruv). Clever, nice, cool, fun.

8. Elordi in Bottega and Isaac in The Zaks Team, TIFF

This is how you power couple. Elordi, draped in Bottega and Isaac in tonal The Zaks Team double-breasted suit. Elordi’s shawl collar paired with open collar and red pocket square is the ideal foil to the austere formality Isaac opted for.

7. Elordi in Bottega Veneta, Isaac in Calvin Klein, Mexico City

I secretly love when the cast use fashion as code for their characters. And while I don’t think it’s on purpose here, let me have my delusions. Elordi has yet to put a well-heeled foot wrong with his run in Bottega, and this is among the best. Note: the green tie, so extra points for this. I’m also keen for a pinstripe revival. Seeing Isaac opt for one straight off the Calvin Klein Fall collection, paired with a pinstripe shirt, is a sartorial sound bath. I’m adrift in bliss.

6. Isaac in Loro Piana, Savannah Film Festival

Kendall Roy would be proud with Isaac’s not-so-quiet luxury statement from Italian house, Loro Piana. Accepting an Icon Award (ahead of a screening of the film), the suit’s muted tones paired with a striped blue shirt and cream tie were as luxe looking as they come.

5. Elordi in green Celine, Newport Beach Film Festival

Technically not a Frankenstein red carpet event but it occurred within the same cinematic universe, so to speak, so I’m including it. Also, I love a green suit. And I love Celine. So it’s a win-win here. If any man has questions on how to suit up when the weather is warmer and not resort to cream linen, this is it.

4. Elordi in Valentino, private Paris screening

One of the rare times that Elordi wasn’t repping his brand du jour, Bottega. Standing at a cute 6’5″, the louche lines of Alessandro Michele’s Valentino coat and flared trousers practically melt off his frame. Extra props go to the colour coordination, a reminder that a great pair of black trousers can easily anchor more colourful choices in the top half. The event was so private that barely any images exist, but we’re glad some did.

3. Elordi in Bottega Veneta, Los Angeles premiere

Personally, this was my favourite look that Elordi walked out in during the entire run of premieres. The monotone ox-blood (in-house notes describe the colour as “caiman”) ensemble is perfect, the fit equally a dream. No notes.

2. Elordi in Bottega Veneta, Venice Film Festival

If the sight of this black tux by Bottega Veneta didn’t make you catch your breath at the time check your pulse, because it gave me life when Elordi practically floated over the red carpet at Venice in it. Add some Jacques Marie Mage eyewear and Elordi’s personal emerald signet ring from New York jeweller, Eli Halili and this the finished product is top tier.

1. Isaac in Celine, Mia Goth in Connor Ives and Elordi in Bottega, London Film Festival

This gets top spot because it delivered a holy trinity of style. All three came chic but with enough of a nod to the gothic grandeur of their film. Isaac in Celine Jacob Elordi in signature Bottega Veneta + Cartier bits and bobs and Mia Goth in sheer Connor Ives.
