Austin Butler has a nose for the best vintage Carhartt
Clearly, the guy has the hookup â and a taste for well-loved workwear
A LOT OF PEOPLE swear by this philosophy: if you find a piece of clothing you really love, buy multiples. I suspect one of those people is Austin Butler, given the number of vintage Carhartt jackets he owns â at least two, possibly more.
This week in New York, the actor stepped out in a black workwear number with a contrasting brown cord collar, which gave me some serious deja vu, as I distinctly remember writing about him stepping out in New York in a black workwear number with a contrasting brown cord collar around this time last year. Upon further inspection, however, it seems Iâve managed to escape a time-loop situation for another day; this jacket is slightly different from the last one, with a brown Carhartt logo instead of a white one and slash pockets instead of patch pockets.
Hey, thereâs something to be said here about brand loyalty. Butlerâs go-to uniform of a Carhartt jacket, dark jeans, and a hat is clearly working for him, and weâre taking notes for the fall (and buying whatever vintage Carhartt we can find before he beats us to it).
I canât fault Butler for buying two of the (almost exact) same jacket, when Carhartt is famously tough enough to sustain harsh winters and heavy use but still cool enough to elevate your streetwear game and veer into off-duty-celebrity territory.
I can sit here and wonder what the inside of his closet looks like, though. In my mind, itâs a long, long rack of hangers, each holding a nearly identical black Carhartt jacket, and Butler shuffles through them every morning, deciding which to wear. Find a few options that I like to think he has below, and Iâll see you here next year for our annual Austin Butler Wearing Carhartt post, folks.
