Inside Bill Gates’s extremely humble, sub-$300 watch collection
The Microsoft co-founder has no need for luxury timepieces

SAY WHAT YOU LIKE about Bill Gates – people do, he doesn’t care! – but the guy knows how to pick a watch. While fellow scary tech billionaire Mark Zuckerberg recently caught the eye of the watch community for flashing a preposterous collection of squillion-pound wristwear, including a De Bethune DB25 Starry Varius, a F.P Journe Souveraine and a Greubel Forsey Hand Made 1, Gates takes a simpler path.
So simple, in fact, that as Instagram’s @luxury.spotters notes, it’s all one brand – the uniformly-loved Casio.
What’s more, Gates’ three-watch collection apparently totals up to $298 AUD, the cheapest of which costs just $60 AUD. Esquire salutes a man who knows what he likes, as much as it does someone who knows good value when he sees it.
