Chris and Liam Hemsworth ring in the New Year with an AP and a Rolex
The Hemsworth bros managed to stop time on New Year's Eve with a pair of showstopping watches

THE HEMSWORTH BOYS did what most Australians abroad do when the calendar resets: they came home for New Year’s. In Sydney, with the Harbour lit up in its annual explosion of fireworks, Chris and Liam rang in the New Year from the best seat in the country.
The duo decorated their wrists appropriately for the occasion – because when the setting is Sydney Harbour on December 31, subtlety is not the dress code. Clearly, the Hemsworths know this. Chris marked the moment with a skelotonised Audemars Piguet Royal Oak in 18-carat white gold. Liam, on the other hand, took a more restrained route, though only by Hemsworth standards. On his wrist sat a yellow-gold Rolex Cosmograph Daytona, a model with a cultural cachet that needs no introduction.
Let’s take a closer look at the brothers’ watches.

Chris Hemsworth’s Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, ref. 15412BC
Chris’ Royal Oak features an openworked design, revealing the intricate mechanism beneath the dial. It’s bezel is set with 32 baguette-cut diamonds, which catch and throw light in every direction. With fireworks lighting up the sky, it’s a wonder no one was blinded by Chris’ highly reflective wristwear. The watch retails for over $450,000 AUD, so the uber-rich Hemsworths likely make up a decent chunk of the market for the model.

A lot of men are choosing to wear smaller, more dainty watches at the moment, but Liam Hemsworth has always served as a reminder that bigger pieces still have their fans. The guy loves a big, bold watch, and this Daytona with a 40mm yellow gold case certainly fits that description. The dial is stark black, creating a nice contrast that is accentuated by a trio of gold subdials. This is a classic statement watch, but it’s actually quite the bargain compared to Chris AP, going for around $100,000.
