The nominations for the 2025 Emmys have been announced
'Severance' leads the way with 27 nominations, while 'The Penguin', 'The White Lotus' and 'The Last of Us' all fared well. Here, we break down the big nominations and the most egregious snubs

BIG DAY FOR fans of prestige TV: the 2025 Emmy nominations have been announced, and so begins the race to binge-watch every single one of them to catch up before the Primetime Emmys on September 14.
This year, the winners of the big awards are expected to be hard to predict. Wherein years past there have been clear standouts that have swept most of the major categories (Succession, The Bear, Shōgun), this year the playing field is far more even.
Read on to find the full list of 2025 Emmy nominations, as well as everything else you need to know about the awards.
What shows got the most nominations at the 2025 Emmys?
A number of series have picked up double-digit nominations and are a strong chance of taking home a large collection of statuettes. Leading the way is Succession, with 27 nominations, followed by The Penguin with 24, The White Lotus and and The Studio, both with 23, and The Last of Us with 16.
What Australians were nominated at the 2025 Emmys?
The Australian contingent at the 77th annual awards show will be strong.
Cate Blanchett earned a nomination in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series category, for her role in Disclaimer*.
Love on the Spectrum US, which is an Australian production, received five nominations.
Cinematographers Tony Gardiner and Heath Kerr were also nominated for their work on Neighbours.
Curtis Stone – of all people – is nominated for Field Trip with Curtis Stone Hong Kong in the Outstanding Travel and Adventure Program category.

What were the biggest nomination snubs at the 2025 Emmys?
In a loaded Supporting Actress (Drama) category, someone was bound to miss out on a nomination and go unrecognised.
It ended up being Genevieve O’Reilly – who, while born in Ireland, was raised in Australia and studied at NIDA, which is the reason for our slight Aussie-centric bias here. O’Reilly’s performance as senator Mon Mothma in Andor was simply magnetic, and she deserves her flowers. We guess the voters didn’t hear Mon Mothma’s speech to the senate, because if they did they surely would have nominated O’Reilly.
Andor just didn’t resonate with voters, it seems, with lead Diego Luna also missing out on a nomination.
Meanwhile, Selena Gomez missed out for Only Murders in the Building.
As did Natasha Lyonne for Poker Face.
Jon Hamm’s turn in Your Friends and Neigbours also wasn’t strong enough for a nomination.
And perhaps most surprising of all, Squid Game missed out in the Best Drama Series category despite being the most watched show of all time.
When are the 2025 Emmys?
The 2025 Emmys will broadcast live from Los Angeles’s Peacock Theatre on Sunday, September 14. For those in Australia, that will be Monday, September 15 at around 10 am.
