EVERYBODY IS TALKING about Netflix’s big new outdoorsy thriller, Untamed. We can give or take the pacey plot and epic scenery, but Eric Bana’s spectacular sweep of grey scale hair is worthy of proper attention.

Wavy, elegant, masculine, sexy – Bana’s ‘do is proof that a) men should never dye their hair as they begin to grey, and b) salt and pepper hair can arguably look better than plain old brown and/or other non-grey shades.

Here, barber Tariq Howes explains how to get the cut yourself (one caveat: you probably need to be going grey).

“This haircut consists of short to medium-length layers, cut square. You need enough length to begin with, so that it can be swept back into this type of style and shape.

“It’s quite a mature cut, but certainly not limited to older men. The good thing is that if you leave the style to grow a bit between cuts, it will develop into that Prince Charming haircut which everyone is going mad for. It’s essentially a shorter version of that style.

“Bana’s Untamed cut is also a good cut for greying hair, as the slightly coarser grain of the hair will allow the style to keep a more structured shape. This cut is best for those with thick hair, as finer follicles won’t withstand the styling.

“When it comes to keeping the style in place I’m a big fan of Kiehl’s Creme with Silk Groom. It gives the hair a nice shine without going full ‘wet look’. It will also control and smooth the hair – which is good for coarser greys – while providing a slight hold.

“For maintaining the tones of grey or white hair it’s best to use L’Oréal’s Silver toning conditioner, which will lift and brighten the grey white colour whilst neutralising yellow tones. “
