What we're watching on Apple TV+ this July

Zach Galifianakis plays the founder of the billionaire-making Beanie Baby empire and fans get an intimate look at the rise of NBA great Stephen Curry

APPLE NEVER fails to deliver on its new release offerings for its streaming arm, Apple TV+. Whether it’s binge-worthy original series, must-see movie premiers or thrilling sporting documentaries that will have you on the edge of your seat, Apple TV+ means business when it comes to streaming.

This July is no exception. Except to find classic original series like Foundation, which this month will release its highly-anticipated second season. There’s a bit of sporting action to enjoy, as Underrated documents the rise of Steph Curry’s NBA greatness. And The Beanie Bubble will tell the incredible true story behind the Beanie-Baby empire, starring Zach Gallafanakis and Saran Snook.

While the new releases are few, Apple TV+ is adamant on quality over quantity, and you can guarantee some cracking TV for the month ahead.

Foundation Season 2

Based on the award-winning novels by Isaac Asimov, Foundation is a sci-fi drama that chronicles a band of exiles on their monumental journey to save humanity and rebuild civilisation amid the fall of the Galactic Empire.

In Season 2, more than a century has passed after the season one finale, and tensions are amounting throughout the galaxy. As the Cleons (the last powerful monarch of the Galactic Empire) unravel, a vengeful queen intends on destroying the Empire within.

The Beanie Bubble

Based on the incredible true story, Zach Gallafanakis is almost unrecognisable (without is beard) as Ty Warner, the co-founder of what became the billionaire-making Beanie Baby empire.

Warner was a down and out, frustrated toy salesman until a collaboration with three women sparked a masterstroke idea: “Beanie Babies”. The film documents the cultural rise of the biggest toy craze in history, and how Warner stopped at nothing to achieve fame, fortune and recognition, resulting in his very own toy empire worth billions.

Stephen Curry: Underrated

This sporting documentary gives viewers an in-depth look at the making of one of the NBA’s greatest players, Stephen Curry. The 4 x NBA champion, 2 x NBA MVP and 9 x NBA All-Star was an underdog from the get-go, and this documentary looks at the unforgettable story of how a “small, scrawny” kid from Ohio became one of the world’s greatest athletes of all time.
