Jeremy Allen White wore the new Louis Vuitton Tambour to the US Open
At Arthur Ashe, 'The Bear' actor sported the new Tambour Steel watch by the French house

THE LOUIS VUITTON Tambour was first released back in 2002, meaning it’s now of drinking age and can order the famous Honey Deuce cocktail at the US Open. But the specific model the actor Jeremy Allen White wore to the American Grand Slam is well under the age restriction; the Tambour Steel is the latest iteration of the maison‘s marquee timepiece, released in 2023.
Seated in the celebrity stands, The Bear actor kept his ‘fit simple and polished at Arthur Ashe in a black polo shirt and grey trousers, as he watched Felix Auger-Aliassime defeat Andrey Rublev in straight sets.
Up until this point, White hasn’t been known for the timepieces he wears. The 34-year-old has cemented his street style cred with his penchant for vintage French workwear and battered baseball caps.
But since his appointment as an ambassador for the 171-year-old fashion was made official in June, White might just enter a new stratosphere in the fashion game. He’ll have access to fresh-off-the-runway looks designed by menswear artistic director Pharrell Williams, and timepieces such as the Tambour in his arsenal. And the Tambour Steel fits right in within White’s sartorial universe.

What makes the Louis Vuitton Tambour Steel special
The watch was a monumental release for Vuitton when the brand’s watch development director, Jean Arnault, brought it on two years ago. The iconic 40 mm drum-shaped case remained, but the updates came with a svelte 8.33 mm thickness and contouring underside (the kind of elegant detail a connoisseur like Arnault would be aware of).
It also joined the ranks of other sports watches with its integrated steel bracelet, marking a new direction for Vuitton’s horological operations towards enduring styles. Featuring a brushed and polished finish, it was easy to spot on White from a distance.
White is spoilt for choice with what model he could be sporting next, with the multitude of metals and dial colours available. White wore a grey dial to the US Open, but it could easily be swapped out for one fixed with a rainbow of rubies and sapphires placed at the odd-numbered hour markers. We’ve got our eyes on that one.
We get the appeal of a watch like the Tambour for a relative beginner like White. It has a clean dial with raised hour-markers for a minimalist feel; an approachable design for new and seasoned aficionados.
