REJOICE! The much hyped New Balance 204L is returning for another drop, this time in their earthy Mushroom and neutral Timberwolf colourways. The first two drops barely lasted a day on shelves, and with the drop set for Friday, October 10, at 12 am, be sure others will be setting their alarm clocks. (That’s including some of us in the Esquire office.)
It’s a big month for the American sportswear label, replenishing popular colourways and styles – keenly the 740 and 1906. Other standouts feature the Castlerock colourway in the 740, and the metallic inflections in the 1906 models. There are more colourways available now via newbalance.com.

When does the New Balance 204L release in October?
The New Balance 204L Timberwolf and Mushroom will be released on Friday, October 10, at 12 am (AEST) online. You can sign up for release notifications via newbalance.com, ensuring you don’t miss the drop. Considering the the first two releases sold out almost immediately, you better set your alarms.
How can I style the new New Balance colourways?
New Balance’s October 2025 line-up is heavy on the chunkier models like the 1906 and 9060. (Is this a return to the dad sneaker?) Two key slim sneakers are featured in this month’s drop: the lifestyle tennis shoe T500, and the hyped-up 204L. In terms of colourways, monochrome is the go, meaning a focus on versatile shades with easy assimilation into a low-key wardrobe.
