New on Netflix Australia November 2025

NETFLIX CONTINUES TO show why it’s the one to beat in the ongoing streaming wars. While other platforms are battling an exodus of content (looking at you Binge), constant rebrandings (Max has already changed its name to HBO Max), and a general staleness (pick a streamer, they’re all guilty), Netflix is going from strength to strength. Previous months have seen the arrival of hits like Wednesday season two, Happy Gilmore 2 and Nobody Wants This season two, now another bumper month lies ahead.

But with so many new films, shows and documentaries arriving every day, choosing what to watch is its own challenge. That’s where we come in. To help you find what’s worth watching on Netflix in November, we’ve rounded up the best new pieces of content coming to the streamer. Scroll on, and get ready to add to your watchlist.

Stranger Things 5: Volume 1

The fifth and final season of Stranger Things has, by far, the series’ strangest release schedule. The first four episodes will release on November 27. Three more come out on Christmas. And the finale premieres on New Year’s Eve. The jury’s still out on how that experimental rollout will land, but the show itself should be somewhat familiar. We last left the residents of Hawkins, Indiana, in quite a spot of bother. A portal to the Upside Down had just opened up above the town, with all sorts of unsavoury monsters emerging from within. Vecna is also still out there, somewhere, so he will likely be back as our protagonists fight to defeat evil for one last time.

Last Samurai Standing

Last Samurai Standing is essentially The Hunger Games and Squid Game in Meiji-era Japan. Set in 1878, it follows 292 Samurai who enter a battle royale to win a 100 billion yen prize. Mind you, the real-life Samurai were mostly extinct by that point in history. Saigō Takamori, often considered the last Samurai, was killed in 1877 after the Satsuma rebellion. So while this new show does look interesting, it’s not exactly historically accurate. Yes, I am fun at parties. How did you know?

Squid Game: The Challenge, season 2

Why watch something that’s similar to Squid Game when you can just watch the real thing? Squid Game: The Challenge is back for a second season that will pit hundreds of contestants against each other for a multi-million-dollar prize. Dystopian, right? At least it’s not a matter of life and death.

Frankenstein

Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein is in cinemas now. But if you’d rather watch it from the comfort of your home, you won’t need to wait long. The film will make its way to Netflix on November 7th, and if early reviews are anything to go by, it should be a hit. Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth and Jacob Elordi make up the main cast, and with Del Toro at the helm, you can expect an eclectic and heavily stylised retelling of the original classic.

Train Dreams

Starring Joel Edgerton, Felicity Jones, Kerry Condon and William H. Macy, Train Dreams is based on Denis Johnson’s beloved novella of the same name. It follows Robert Grainier, a logger and railroad worker who leads a life of unexpected depth and beauty in the rapidly-changing America of the early 20th Century.
