PICTURE A GOLDEN astronaut, a restored 19th-century heritage building, and the scent of fig mingling with floral and woody notes. No, it’s not the setup for some retro-futuristic movie; it’s Omega’s new Perth flagship boutique – a retail space that feels less like a store and more like an experience.

Nestled on the corner of Wolf Lane and Murray Street, this isn’t just a new outpost for the Swiss luxury watchmaker; it’s a landmark moment for Western Australia. Housed in a beautifully preserved historic building, the boutique seamlessly blends its past-life charm (think original pressed metal ceilings and exposed sprinkler pipes) with Omega’s sleek, modern aesthetic. If watches are about precision, this boutique applies the same ethos to architecture.

And then there’s the star of the show – or, rather, stars. One is literal: a three-metre-tall golden astronaut standing proudly inside the boutique, a nod to Omega’s Moonwatch legacy and a cheeky reminder that this brand has been places most of us can only dream about. The other? The chandelier. Not just any chandelier, of course, but a 150-rod design that feels as though it’s borrowed from some glamorous, intergalactic gala.

But let’s get down to what we’re really here for: the watches. Omega has brought its four iconic collections to Perth, and they’re more than ready to steal the spotlight. The Constellation line is here for those who admire precision and heritage; the Seamaster (James Bond’s ride-or-die) will tempt anyone dreaming of ocean adventures or just a really good spy story. Meanwhile, the Speedmaster, the first watch worn on the moon, is a piece of wearable history.

And while the watches are the undeniable heroes, the boutique itself is designed to keep you lingering. There’s a VIP lounge for one-on-one appointments (because buying a watch should feel like an event) and a fully equipped bar that turns your service enquiry into an excuse for a perfectly shaken cocktail. Even the air is curated, thanks to Omega’s signature scent – a mix of fig, subtle florals, and refined woodiness, with a hint of bergamot to keep things fresh. It’s all part of what Omega does so well: blending the technical with the sensory to create something that feels effortlessly luxurious.

What makes this flagship particularly noteworthy, though, is its location. It’s the brand’s first corporate boutique in Western Australia and only the seventh in Australia, marking an important milestone in Omega’s presence Down Under. CEO Raynald Aeschlimann described it as a way to connect with new clients across the region, and honestly, with a space this inviting, it’s hard to imagine anyone resisting a peek inside.

Whether you’re a longtime Omega fan or just someone with a taste for beautiful things, this boutique is worth a visit. Go for the Speedmaster; stay for the scent of bergamot and a glimpse of that golden astronaut. And who knows – maybe you’ll leave with a piece of history on your wrist– or at least a great story to tell.
