FILM’S BIGGEST NIGHT has arrived, and the best-dressed men really did save the best for last. With the Oscars ceremony underway at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, here’s a recap of all the best menswear from the red carpet.

Dress code wise, the Academy Awards is the most formal out of all the awards shows. The SAG Awards last week was a pleasant mixed bag; the BAFTAs was closest in black tie formality. Because if you think about it, would the Best Actor winner want to have their speech immortalised in a tux that’ll age out? 

While we saw plenty of tuxedos (velvet if you think that’s adventurous), this year’s Oscars had plenty of idiosyncratic pleasures of menswear. Jeff Goldblum and Bowen Yang gave new meaning to florals; Timothée Chalamet and Andrew Garfield chose gourmand monochrome suiting; Omar Apollo (or Tall Papi to us) came mourning Queer‘s zero Oscar nods in a veil.
