Materialists Pedro Pascal Watches

EARLY ON IN ‘MATERIALISTS’, Dakota Johnson’s Lucy tells Pedro Pascal’s Harry that he is what they refer to in the matchmaking business as a ‘unicorn’ – a man that ticks every box, meaning just about any woman would be happy to be matched up with him.

This is, Lucy explains, because Harry is rich, well-educated, funny and – importantly – six feet tall. What she doesn’t mention, but what we can assume also factors into his unicorn status, is that Harry has exceptional taste in watches.

You see, we don’t know too much about Harry’s personal life except the fact that he works in private equity and is very, very rich. Immense wealth is the cornerstone of Harry’s character, but it’s not enough to just tell us that he’s rich. Audiences need to see it.

Harry’s wealth is thus: he always picks up the cheque without hesitation, takes Lucy to only the finest restaurants, dresses well and of course, he actually tells Lucy that his apartment is worth a mind-numbing twelve million dollars. But he also flaunts it in a less direct manner, one that only eagle-eyed watch fans might’ve spotted – the guy always has a superb watch on his wrist.

Throughout Materialists, Harry rotates between a pair of luxury watches – which tells us that he’s not only into wearing timepieces, but that he may collect them. Both watches exemplify good taste, and they’re both made by Jaeger-LeCoultre. Let’s take a closer look.

What watches does Pedro Pascal wear in ‘Materialists’?

Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Chronograph in rose gold

Price: $65,500

The watch Harry wears when he first meets Lucy at his brother’s wedding is a JLC Reverso Tribute chronograph. It features an hour-minute display on both of its reversible dials, which have complementary styles. The front dial is sunray black, a colour which contrasts with the rose gold gadroons, hour-markers, railroad minute track and Dauphine hands.

On the other side, the open-worked reverse dial reveals the Manufacture Calibre 860 and other intricate mechanical details that keep the watch running. Unfortunately, we only get to see the front dial in Materialists.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Chronograph Calendar in rose gold

Price: $54,500

This is the watch Harry wears to date night with Lucy. But like his choice of restaurant, it’s anything but casual. A moon phase with harmonious proportions, the Master Control Chronograph Calendar has a stark black dial decorated with flashes of colour on its complications. There’s a splash of blue on the moon phase complication, and red stands out on the small seconds and moon phase counters, the digits of the center date window and the pulsometer scale. The Manufacture Calibre 759 powers the watch, an automatic movement with 65 hours of power reserve.
