IT’S OUR FAVOURITE SEASON – awards season – and the 83rd Golden Globes are about to kick off.

For Australian viewers, the Golden Globes remain one of the easiest major awards ceremonies to watch live, arriving neatly into the morning and offering an early signal of how the awards season is likely to unfold. So sit back and let them games begin.

First, the basics – how to watch them. The Golden Globe Awards will be broadcast live from the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Monday, 12 January 2026. In Australia, the ceremony will stream exclusively on Paramount+, which holds the local broadcast rights. Red carpet coverage is expected to begin from around 10am AEDT, with the main ceremony starting shortly after 11am. For viewers elsewhere in the country, that translates to 10am AEST in Queensland, 10.30am in South Australia, 9.30am in the Northern Territory and an 8am start in Western Australia. Paramount+ subscribers will be able to watch live or catch up later via on-demand streaming.

While the Golden Globes are often framed as Hollywood’s most relaxed awards night, this year’s ceremony arrives with a clearer sense of frontrunners than usual. Several nominees enter the Globes with momentum following strong performances at the 2026 Critics’ Choice Awards, which frequently act as an early indicator of industry sentiment.

Timothée Chalamet in Marty Supreme is among those widely expected to feature prominently. After securing a Critics’ Choice win barely a week ago, his Golden Globes nomination is viewed as part of a broader run of recognition that positions him as one of the year’s most consistent performers. Jacob Elordi is in a similar position, arriving at the Globes after claiming his own Critics’ Choice Award for Best Supporting Actor for his turn as the Creature in Frankenstein. The win marked a significant step in his awards trajectory and has sharpened expectations around his chances of adding further recognition.

On the television side, Adolescence is regarded as one of the strongest limited series contenders of the year. Its success at the Critics’ Choice Awards has reinforced its status as a likely Golden Globes winner, with the series earning praise for its performances and thematic ambition. Michael B. Jordan’s work in Sinners has also generated sustained attention throughout the season. While competition remains strong, his performance has been widely cited as one of the film’s defining elements, keeping him firmly in the awards conversation.
