HOLLYWOOD FUNNY GUY Will Ferrell is making the watch rounds this morning as the actor was spotted wearing a brand-new timepiece that, like his co-star Ryan Gosling, is Barbie themed.

The watch in question is the Oris ProPilot x Calibre 400 with a lovely off-pink dial; the perfect watch for one to wear at a Barbie European premiere, wouldn’t you say?

Ferrell seamlessly paired his Barbie-themed watch seamlessly with a corporate-esque suit (not dissimilar to what his Barbie character would wear) and a pink-patterned tie.

Despite what you might think, pink watch dials are not a new novelty to the watch world. In 2020, Rolex released the highly-coveted baby pink Oyster Perpetual that had the watch collectors in a frenzy. Across the pond, Grand Seiko released the incredible “Shunbun” Spring Drive Pink Dial SBGA413 last year.

It’s clear that the hype around coloured watch dials, specifically pink dials, is not going anywhere anytime soon. And if they’re cool enough for Gosling and Ferrell, then they have our tick of approval, too.

Ferrell, the Hollywood comedian and actor who is renowned for his roles in Anchorman, Step Brothers and Elf, will play the Mattel CEO in the new Barbie film, the real-life company behind the production of the Barbie doll.

Ferrell, who has been been doing the premiere rounds with his cast mates, gushed over the anticipated blockbuster to WSJ. Magazine during an interview late last year.

“It is, in my humble opinion, the ultimate example of high art and low art,” Ferrell said. “It’s a loving homage to the brand and, at the same time, couldn’t be more satirical — just an amazing comment on male patriarchy and women in society and why Barbie’s criticised and yet why every little girl still wants to play with Barbie. Boy, when I read it, I was like, ‘This is fantastic.'”

Barbie will hit cinemas globally on July 20, 2023.
