IF YOU HAPPENED to stroll past TAG Heuer’s flagship Sydney boutique last week, you might have noticed something a little different in the window — something sculptural, something fast. The luxury watch brand teamed up with local artist Werner Bronkhorst for an installation that brought their long-standing love of motorsport to life.

Bronkhorst, the South African-born, Sydney-based artist, is known for his hypnotic mix of hyper-real miniature paintings set against abstract sculptural backdrops.

And in this latest commission — a triptych of racecar-inspired sculptures — he’s channelled TAG Heuer’s deep ties to the world of Formula 1, Porsche, and, of course, the brand’s signature Monaco timepiece.

Unveiled on May 22nd, Bronkhorst’s installation features three bold sculptures, each representing a chapter of TAG Heuer’s racing story. There’s the Porsche 917K, with its instantly recognisable Gulf livery — a nod to the Heuer Monaco worn by Steve McQueen in Le Mans.

Then there’s a Red Bull Racing-inspired piece, paying tribute to TAG Heuer’s decades-long involvement with Formula 1 and its 2025 return as the sport’s official timekeeper.

Finally, a Porsche 911 sculpture ties it all together with a distinctly local spin — referencing the 2025 Melbourne Grand Prix and the watchmaker’s ongoing global partnership with Porsche.

“I kept the colours, compositions, and cars simple yet visually striking,” Bronkhorst said. “If I could surround myself with only three things, it would be cars, watches, and art — so this was a dream brief.”

Beyond the eye-catching visuals, this installation is a clever convergence of TAG Heuer’s design codes and Bronkhorst’s unique aesthetic. There’s the obsessive attention to detail — miniature Red Bull F1 cars looped around the Red Bull Ring, tiny 911s racing through Albert Park, and dramatic abstract forms sculpted into racetrack-like curves.

It’s part nostalgia, part future-facing, and 100% on-brand for TAG Heuer, whose mantra “Don’t Crack Under Pressure” feels fittingly reflected in Bronkhorst’s precision-led style.

This art drop also marks a full-circle moment for TAG Heuer’s newly renovated Sydney boutique, which officially re-opened in early 2024 with brand ambassador Patrick Dempsey in attendance.

Sleek, minimalist, and architecturally led by the Swiss HQ team, the boutique is a physical expression of TAG Heuer’s identity — and now, thanks to Bronkhorst, it’s got a motor-racing heartbeat to match.

Timed to coincide with one of the most iconic races on the F1 calendar, the Monaco Grand Prix, the installation is now live in-store. Whether you’re a watch collector, a racing obsessive, or just into beautifully made things, it’s worth a look.

After all, where else can you see a Gulf-liveried Porsche, a Red Bull F1 car, and a tribute to Melbourne’s Albert Park — all without leaving Sydney?
