Aaron Taylor-Johnson went as a rockstar James Bond to the ‘28 Years Later’ London premiere
The 35-year-old British actor isn't living down the 007 rumours, so he went to the premiere as a jazzed up Bond

AARON TAYLOR-JOHNSON isn’t living down the James Bond rumours. How can he? The guy is the certified mould in a well cut suit. But at the 28 Years Later premiere, the 35-year-old actor turned the look (and rumours) on its head.
Pinstriped up at the London premiere of the highly-anticipated Danny Boyle flick, Taylor-Johnson opted for the classic tailor’s cloth in a vest and wide, billowing trousers, with thick black sunglasses, a gold Rolex, and chains over his open chest. Popularised in the late 19th and early 20th century, the narrow stripes were a subtle alternative to your everyday grey or navy wool suits. In other words, it was a small way of exercising your good taste and tailoring knowledge.

Worn on the backs of bankers across the Atlantic, jazz musicians during the 1920s Harlem Renaissance in New York and Wall Street power-brokers of the ’80s and ’90s (think American Psycho), another figure has been rocking it all the while: James Bond. Indeed, discussions regarding the next Bond amongst top prospects seems to be if producers are looking for a whole new direction to take England’s most famous spy. And if red carpets are the arena where can see shifts and spins on tailoring by Bond-hopefuls, Taylor-Johnson makes a strong case for a rugged 007.
Even attending at the 28 Years Later photo-call in the big smoke the day before, Taylor-Johnson exercised his would-be Bond in a casual fit in a cropped leather jacket and (again) wide-leg pleated trousers. If we’re evoking eras, it was pure ’70s – maybe to recall that decade’s Bond, played by Roger Moore. The man can do it all, wear it all, which perhaps makes him our top candidate.

And if we’re also considering acting chops and physical ability for the role, Taylor-Johnson plays father Jamie in 28 Years Later. Set 28 years after 2007’s 28 Weeks Later, Jamie takes his son Spike (Alfie Williams) back to the mainland on a soft of rite of passage. Wielding a bow and arrow, it’s a fierce, muscular film that asks deeper questions about manhood in a world in ruin. Starring across Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes, it’s another feather to Taylor-Johnson’s decked out cap in bringing blockbuster appeal to a franchise. Need we say more? His fits on the 28 Years Later press tour so far have proven he’s got the wardrobe.
