For the first time in 119 years, Montblanc is doing ready-to-wear
Leather goods designer Marco Tomasetta is penning this new chapter at the German brand

PEN ENTHUSIASTS, rejoice. For the first time in its 119 year history, Montblanc is doing ready-to-wear. This isn’t the ‘office siren’ look either, with a simple chest pocket for your pen, but rather thoughtfully designed garments to take your writing instruments everywhere.
The German penmaker debuted the 16-look collection during Milan Men’s Fashion Week at the Squadra Rialzo train depot, a setting styled to exist in the same world as Wes Anderson’s latest caper, The Phoenician Scheme (the American filmmaker also collaborated on a new short film). Marco Tomasetta, the same mind behind Montblanc’s elegantly utilitarian leather goods since 2021, is penning the new era.
“This expression of Montblanc heritage is the most intimate yet,” said Tomasetta in a statement. “Something you can carry on your body and something that literally becomes part of you.” Leather jackets, vests and trousers were a highlight from the show. Armed with pockets and slots to hold your writing instrument and canvas – it was the ultimate sartorial expression of writing.
