Is Brian Cox a streetwear guy now?
The Succession star has ditched Logan Roy’s sleek severity in favour of a modern look in a new campaign for Kith.

IF YOU ARE at all familiar with HBO’s hit series Succession, you’ll know that Logan Roy would never be caught dead in anything but a pristinely no-nonsense suit, or at most, a homey cable-knit cardigan in his down time. In fact, Roy seems like the kind of boss that would consider partaking in ‘casual-wear Friday’ to be a fireable offence.
Nevertheless, Brian Cox, the man who brings Roy’s profanity-laden persona to life, clearly has different style preferences than the patriarch of the Roy family. Making quite the statement on the intertubes, the actor is the new face of streetwear brand Kith’s autumn 2023 campaign, appearing in a range of contemporary fits more suited to a preppy casual-wear afficionado than the volatile business mogul audiences may be familiar with.
Needless to say, for those accustomed to viewing Cox as an egotistical, manipulative, narcissist in Succession, his more mild-mannered, debonair appearance with Kith is a veritable jump scare.

In Kith’s 2023 Autumn campaign, Cox dons a range of garments, some appropriate for a man approaching his ’80s, and others less so, but all maintain the suave exterior of the modern urbane man. Cox’s outfits include contemporary staples such as a varsity jacket, an embroidered sweatshirt, a button-up overcoat and even a pair of loafers. Proving that aging doesn’t always translate to a loss in fashion sense.
It’s not exactly the luxury look Cox favoured on Succession, but Kith’s collection is also packed with collared shirts and elegant blazers. You know, the kind Logan Roy would much rather wear. It’s worth noting, however, that the brand has been moving towards a preppier aesthetic of late, with embroidered bomber jackets and a loafer collaboration with dapper shoe brand Blackstock & Weber rounding out its evolved offering, which has historically been dominated by oversized garms and logos.

With broad appeal to both older and younger demographics, Kith disregards the notion of ‘out with the old and in with the new’. Instead, the brand has made a habit of repeatedly centring older (but no less fashionable) actors in its seasonal campaigns. The ageless talents of Bryan Cranston, Adrien Brody, and even Steve Buscemi have previously been recruited for Kith campaigns. So, though it might come as a shock to some, in this company, Cox is anything but out of place.
In other news, Cox has received an Emmy nomination for ‘outstanding lead actor in a drama series’ for his role in the final season of Succession, having already taken home the award for ‘outstanding supporting actor in a limited series’ for his role in Nuremburg way back in 2001. Joining him in the category are fellow Succession heavyweights Kieran Culkin and Jeremy Strong. Although, with the Emmys delayed until early 2024, the screen icon will have ample time to focus on fashion.
