WITH THE RED CARPET over and Hollywood’s most famous people packed inside the one room, the awards part of the 2026 Golden Globes is officially underway. And it’s going to be quite the marathon, with 27 categories in total, spanning both film and TV (unlike the Academy Awards, which is film-exclusive).

Like any year, this time around there were many well-deserved nominees. On the list of well-deserved nominees, you can find films like One Battle After Another, Sinners, Marty Supreme and Hamnet. It’s One Battle After Another that has earned the most film nominations, with 9. TV-wise, The Bear, The Studio, The White Lotus, Adolescence and Severance wracked up nominations, reminding us what a banger year 2025 was for streaming.

Where can I watch the Golden Globes in Australia?

Those watching the Globes from Australia can tune in to the ceremony on January 12. This year marks the second of a five-year agreement between the Globes and CBS, who will be broadcasting the red carpet and awards with streaming rights going to Paramount+, meaning Australian viewers can only watch the 2026 Golden Globes live on the platform. If you can’t sneak away to watch during work, there’ll be a re-run at 7:30pm on Channel 10.

When to watch the 2025 Golden Globes in Australia

The Golden Globes will exclusively stream on Paramount+ on January 12 at 11am to 3pm AEDT.

How do the Golden Globes work?

Similar to how the Oscars or the Emmys votes for its winners, there is a governing body of entertainment journalists from recognised media organisations who vote for the Golden Globe winners.

Categories are a lot more diverse in terms of genre and form, so there will be a lot of winner here compared to the Oscars where the pool is smaller.
