IN MILLENNIAL MOVIES, the Aussie heartthrob still reigns supreme. Like Simon Baker in 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada, who played the flirtatious freelance journalist Christian Thompson and Andy Sachs’ (Anne Hathaway) love interest, fellow Australian actor Patrick Brammall now stands in his stead for the upcoming sequel. It’s safe to say Andy has a type.
On set this week, Hathaway and Brammall were seen filming dance sequences through the streets of Brooklyn. Wearing a blue linen suit to match his co-star’s metallic Rabanne dress, the Colin From Accounts actor and Hathaway were holding hands as he gave her a few twirls in the rain.
Who is Patrick Brammall playing in The Devil Wears Prada 2?
The name of Brammall’s character has not yet been revealed, nor his occupation. Maybe Andy has learnt not to date her peers.
Is Simon Baker returning for The Devil Wears Prada 2?
While most of the original cast are reprising their roles, Baker hasn’t yet confirmed his return.
In fact, in his cover story with Esquire Australia earlier this year, Baker revealed he hadn’t seen The Devil Wears Prada until very recently. The reason? A friend of his wife’s told him his bushy, surfer-like eyebrows “had like their own fucking thing going on. And I was like, ‘Oh, fuck. I don’t ever wanna see that movie’.” Now you know.
And in saying that, I doubt his character Christian Thompson will simply drop from the face of the magazine world. As the sequel will delve into the decline of magazines, maybe he’ll make a cameo as a beleaguered freelance whose jobs have dried up.
