HEADING TO PARIS FASHION WEEK THIS SEPTEMBER? Or simply planning a long-overdue European escape?

The city already promises magic in autumn – but this year, it offers something more. As the runways light up across the French capital, ‘Virgil Abloh: The Codes’ will open at the Grand Palais, adding a rare cultural moment to the fashion calendar.

Running from 30 September to 10 October 2025, the exhibition marks the first major European retrospective dedicated to Abloh’s work.

Co-presented by the Virgil Abloh Archive™ and Nike, the showcase will span more than 13,000 square feet and feature close to 1,000 objects – culled from an extraordinary archive of 20,000 pieces.

Here’s the catch: Abloh’s birthday – 30 September – has always landed during Paris Fashion Week, merging celebration with couture in a way that feels entirely his.

The Codes explores the full arc of his multidisciplinary legacy – from Off‑White’s graphic staples to his architectural mindset.

Visitors will see prototypes, sketches, rare artefacts, and even screenshots of his WhatsApp threads – step-by-step glimpses into how he thought and collaborated.

Curated by longtime collaborators Chloe and Mahfuz Sultan – also Directors of the Archive™ – The Codes is described as “a love letter to the city that inspired him most.”

It’s a rare chance to step inside the mind of a creative force – where fashion, streetwear, architecture, sneakers, music and art all come together.

If there’s ever been a moment worth building a trip around, this is it: where Paris Fashion Week meets something deeper, and your Australian winter is swapped for a little Parisian cool.

Amid amber streetlights, elegant rendezvous, and Parisian style, this exhibition becomes an unforgettable cornerstone of your autumn escape.
