Nautical style that transcends the ocean: we style pieces from Pharrell's Pre-Fall 2024 collection for Louis Vuitton
Pharrell Williams’ Louis Vuitton is all about collaborating with friends. Your fastest ticket to joining the inner circle? Wearing the polymath’s collections, of course. Here, we do just that with Pre-Fall 2024
IF PHARRELL’Sfirst collection for Louis Vuitton was an exploration of the house’s codes, as well as those that have inspired his own style journey — short suits, hats, that dandy-inspired aesthetic — the creative director’s Pre-Fall 2024 collection saw him distil those codes into three nautical-inspired personas: the sailer, the fisherman and the surfer. Three characters whose life revolves around the ocean, they are also united by their reliance on “the nocturnal counterpart to the sun.”
At the time, we wrote of the collection: “its overarching mood was one of fun. Those in attendance were excited to be there, and the models on the runway — whether real life surfers or Hong Kong locals — clearly enjoyed wearing the clothes. At risk of dropping the most obvious pun in the books, this collection was Happy. Who can’t get behind that?
For the May/June 2024 issue of Esquire, we styled 10 of the collection’s standout looks on a cast of Aussie models. While they may not be Hawaiian surfers, we reckon they look just as cool in Pharrell’s eclectic pieces. Keep scrolling for the full shoot.
