Stevie Nicks finally responded to 'Daisy Jones & the Six'
“It brought back memories that made me feel like a ghost watching my own story.”
WHEN DAISY JONES & The Six premiered on March 3, one question lingered in everyone’s mind: Is this about Fleetwood Mac? The popular Amazon Prime Video series—which is based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s best-selling novel of the same name—tracks the rise of a ’70s rock band that falls apart after its lead singers fall in love. Sound familiar?
As it turns out, the story is loosely based on Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham’s complex relationship. After watching the show herself, Nicks confirmed the similarities. On Tuesday night, the legendary artist posted her thoughts on Instagram, praising the show’s ability to weave her life story into something new. “Just finished watching Daisy Jones + the 6 for the 2nd time,” Nicks wrote. “In the beginning, it wasn’t really my story, but Riley seamlessly soon became my story.” Actress Riley Keough plays Daisy Jones, a free-spirited performer who bears a stark resemblance to Nicks.
“It brought back memories that made me feel like a ghost watching my own story,” Nicks continued. “It was very emotional for me. I just wish Christine [another member of Fleetwood Mac] could have seen it. She would have loved it.” Nicks ended her review with a plea for another season. “Hopefully it will continue,” she said.
Amazon has not confirmed whether or not second season is in the works. The show is based on a single novel, so in order to keep the story going, Prime Video would have to create new material from scratch. Perhaps earning Nick’s stamp of approval can serve as motivation. In the meantime, Reese Witherspoon, who produced the series, thanked Nicks for her review. “Oh my stars, Stevie! This means the world to the whole Daisy Jones and the Six team,” she wrote. “Thank you for cutting the path.”
