This year’s Australian Open trophies arrived in custom Louis Vuitton
Presented to the 2025 champions by rugby legend Dan Carter and Louis Vuitton ambassador Phoebe Dynevor, this year’s custom-made trophy trunks were a fitting nod to the heritage of the Aussie Slam

THE EXCITEMENT OF the 2025 Australian Open reached fever-pitch over the weekend, as the competition drew to its end, with Jannik Sinner and Madison Keys named this year’s men’s and women’s singles champions, respectively. And for a tournament that has become closely intertwined with fashion on and off the court, before the trophies were awarded to the winners, they had to make a fashionable arrival themselves — in none other than Louis Vuitton.
The French Maison returned once again as the Official Trophy Trunk partner of the Australian Open for 2025, specially crafting two custom-designed trunks to house the competition’s prestigious trophies: the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup for women, and the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup for men.
Ahead of the final matches, the trunks containing the highly-coveted trophies were presented by sporting legends and friends of the brand. House Ambassador Dan Carter, former New Zealand rugby union superstar, presented the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup alongside Australian tennis legend and former world number one, Evonne Goolagong Cawley. Meanwhile, presenting the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup on January 26 alongside another former Australian world number one, John Newcombe, Bridgerton and Fair Play star Phoebe Dynevor made an appearance, suitable styled in Louis Vuitton tenniscore.

The trophy trunks themselves were, of course, equally stylish. Hand-crafted by Louis Vuitton artisans in Asnières, the Maison’s historic workshops just outside of Paris, the trunks are covered in the instantly-recognisable LV Monogram canvas and brass hardware that has appeared on Vuitton’s trunks since the 1860s. The front panels fold back to reveal the trophies, which intersect a striking white V for Victory (and Vuitton, of course). Lined with a royal blue microfibre that nods to the Australian Open‘s signature blue courts, the trunks are more than just an elegant means of carrying and protecting the trophies — they’re thoughtfully-crafted symbols of the heritage, esteem and legacy of the 120-year-old Open itself.
As the opening Grand Slam tournament of the season, the Australian Open has become a particularly special competition for tennis fans and players alike — making Vuitton’s continued Trophy Trunk partnership a fitting honour. After all, the Maison has become synonymous with the world’s most prestigious sporting competitions — crafting bespoke Trophy Trunks for other tennis tournaments like Roland Garros and the Davis Cup, as well as the FIFA World Cup, Formula One‘s Grand Prix de Monaco, America’s Cup, and the 2024 Paris Olympics.
For the Australian Open to be counted among those esteemed, historic tournaments — it just feels right.
