FOR IWC’S NEWEST Ingenieur collection, the watchmaker leaned on the influential designs of horological visionary Gérald Genta.

For the uninitiated, here’s a brief introduction: Genta is perhaps the most highly regarded high-end watchmaker of all time. He created the Patek Phillipe Nautilus and the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak – to date the best-selling models of both houses – and designed the cult-classic IWC Ingenieur model known as ‘Jumbo’. Christie’s auction house of New York has called Genta’s work “the Fabergé of watches”.

The new Ingenieur collection pays tribute to Genta’s visionary designs, while emphasising the versatility that defines the Ingenieur range. From the elegantly proportioned Automatic 35 to the bold Automatic 42 and the technically impressive Perpetual Calendar 41, the collection offers a spectrum of styles and sizes.

That variety is a reflection of the enduring appeal of Genta’s original concept, which blended heritage with contemporary sensibilities and aimed to ensure there was a timepiece to suit every wrist and every occasion.

Below, we take a closer look at the new IWC Ingenieur collection.
