All we want to ski in is Louis Vuitton
The brand’s new Men’s Ski Collection features high-tech performance gear, polar bear bag charms and a puffer vest printed with a snowy mountain landscape
THIS TIME OF YEAR presents Australians with two holiday options: to stay Down Under and soak up the antipodean summer, or board a flight and hit the slopes in Japan, Europe or Canada? If your appetite for fresh power exceeds your desire to sit on a beach, we get it – especially now that you can ski in style, wearing Louis Vuitton’s Ski Collection, designed by Pharrell Williams himself.
Gone are the days of having to brave the mountains in retro onesies and thermals that didn’t travel well between the ski fields and the bar. One year since launching its first ski collection, Louis Vuitton has given its global community a whole new reason to buy a lift ticket and splurge on a chalet. As Williams points out, “Skiing is a mode of life. A culture in its own right.” For many, skiing isn’t just about the thrill of careening down a mountain; it’s about feeling fly while doing so.
For 2025, Louis Vuitton has crafted a ski collection that speaks to the here and now, while promising to last you forever. Crafted from innovative recycled fabrications – ski suits are made from recycled polyamide and polyester, which reduce environmental impact by limiting the use of virgin materials – each piece has been designed and made with sustainability front of mind. Technical specifications are also state-of-the-art; waterproof and windproof, skiwear includes functional details such as ski pass holders, inside goggle pockets and ventilations zips under the arms and thighs.
A snow-inspired version of the Damoflage print, a motif that we associate with Pharrell’s tenure at the French house, features across a technical ski shell suit, ski mittens, a reversible wool beanie and scarf. According to the brand, the ‘Snow Damoflage “integrates a wintery palette which blends with the mountain-scape of skiing”.
Louis Vuitton being Louis Vuitton, après wear is absolutely not an afterthought. Hybridised in nature to float between environments that demand function and fashion (or both), there is a warm shearling jacket, sumptuous fair-isles knits, a fleece tracksuit and, the piece at the top of our wish list, a vest with a vintage ski scene motif and padded mountain details. Pearls, a favourite adornment of Pharrell’s, are sprinkled like snowdrops across beanies, a black tracksuit and a particularly striking embellished cable knit pullover in wool blend.
And then there’s the shoes. The aptly named LV Blizzard boot flaunts inbuilt socks, as well as a snow-proof ankle drawstring and ruching, to ensure your feet are kept warm, dry – and stylish. The LV Footprint boot comes in glacier blue shearling and natural fox fur, made instantly recognisable by the distinctive rubber sole from which it takes its name.
The pièce de résistance, however, is the LV snowboard. Handmade by artisans in the French Alps, using techniques and materials that offer peak performance – poplar, beechwood, fibreglass and steel – it might just be the flex to end all flexes.
Only 100 of the boards will be made, so if you see one on the slopes this Northern Hemisphere winter, be sure to give its rider a big nod of respect.
