This story contains spoilers for the Season Two finale of The Bear.

FORMER DUKE men’s basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski (better known as Coach K, of course) wants to cameo in The Bear. Honestly? I could see it. According to Variety, the basketball coach was recently informed that his leadership novel, Leading with the Heart, is featured in the FX show. Now, he wants a spot in the kitchen, too.

“They actually talk about the book,” Krzyzewski said in an episode of The Brotherhood Podcast. Apparently, a guest feature isn’t entirely out of reach. “It ends up that the lead lady [Ayo Edebiri] is represented by CAA, and so am I,” he continued. “So I just sent her an autographed book of ‘Leading With the Heart,’ and I told my agent, ‘In the future, if they keep going, why don’t I do a cameo? Like go and have a meal maybe.’ It’s in my hometown, Chicago. And it’s a heck of a show.” I can see it now—Coach K, Carmy, and Sydney chatting about sports, while scarfing down some beef sangos. How wonderful would that be? The Bear could use some levity anyway.

In Season Two, Carmy (White) and his team attempt to open a new restaurant just 12 weeks after his family’s sandwich shop, The Original Beef of Chicagoland (AKA The Beef), shut down. The season finaleconcludes several journeys of self-discovery. Sydney (Ayo Edibiri) has been schooled in the tao of Coach K, Cousin Ritchie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) learned to appreciate the finer things in life, Marcus (Lionel Boyce) studied desserts in Copenhagen, and Tina (Liza ColĂłn-Zayas) went to culinary school. Their individual improvements come together for an incredible team effort—only after Carmy accidentally locks himself in fridge. The head chef clearly has a lot to work on, including his new relationship with Claire (Molly Gordon).

If you’ve already devoured the new batch of episodes, you might be wondering what comes next. Will The Bear return for Season Three? Is a romance between Marcus and Sydney brewing? Could Coach K actually have a cameo? Unfortunately, FX has not announced any plans just yet. But don’t worry, Season Two is already looking like a surefire awards-season contender. The Bear will surely be back before you know it. If The Bear sticks with its previous production schedule, we could be reunited with our culinary friends in 2024.
